Asian American Landslide in 2012
Okay, the election is over and we can all take a breath. Asian American voters were incredibly powerful this election! Here’s a quick roundup of news, views and stats on AAPIs at the ballot box:
–Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) on MSNBC on the power, and complexity, of the Asian American vote.
-Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) on swing state power and challenges at the polls.
–18 Million Rising, a campaign partner of AAPI Food Action, has a pile of blog posts and information on AAPI voters leading up to and following the election.
-Asian Pacific Environmental Network published the first-ever AAPI voter guide for California. Wish we had one for the rest of the country, but it’s a great start, especially for the super-confusing statewide propositions in that state. Many of the guide’s recommendations won.
I’m annoyed that the New York Times still fails to distinguish between Asian and Asian American, but what can you do. Everyone’s votes made a huge difference, so let’s go fix this Farm Bill now!
